Oglethorpe University Athletics is excited to welcome our newest Stormy Petrels to the nest!

Georgia Southern University recently recognized more than 2,700 students for excellence in academics on the Spring 2017 semester Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

This achievement is presented to the students who participated in international education experiences with Georgia State University during the Spring 2017 semester.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for spring 2017. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the spring 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The following students have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology for Spring 2017.

A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

Welcome home, Bobcats! On Friday, June 16, 2017, Georgia College celebrates the newest students and their families as they attend New Student Orientation. Orientation is a day-long program packed with opportunities for new students to connect with faculty in their intended major and become familiar with the campus as well as the array of academic and campus life programs available. Orientation allows new members of the Bobcat family to "take care of business" as they prepare for move-in.

The University of Alabama awarded approximately 5,000 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. With a beautiful campus, hundreds of rigorous academic programs, world-renowned faculty and numerous opportunities for service and growth, The University of Alabama is a place where legends are made. UA offers its students a premier educational, cultural and social experience with more than 310 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The campus gives students the opportunity to interact with nationally renowned faculty performing cutting-edge research. In addition, UA offers students more than 500 student organizations, and UA students perform more than 1 million hours of service for the community.

In ceremonies held May 5-6 at the University of North Georgia, graduating cadets were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army or Georgia National Guard.

The University of North Georgia awarded more than 1,800 degrees and certificates for the spring 2017 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held May 5-7 at the university.

More than 370 accepted students have indicated their commitment to attend Oglethorpe University by submitting their enrollment deposit. We're excited to welcome these new "Stormy Petrels" to campus this fall! The Class of 2021 will begin classes on August 21, 2017.

To be eligible for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

Approximately 1,920 students have made the Spring Semester 2017 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.

More than 2,000 students received bachelor's degrees from Georgia State University during the week of May 8, 2017.

More than 800 students received associate's degrees from Georgia State University during the week of May 8, 2017.

TROY is pleased to announce students who have been named to the Provost's List for the spring semester and Term 4 of the 2016/2017 academic year. Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of at least 3.65 qualify for the Provost's List. The spring semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 4 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

The following students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the Dean's List for the 2017 spring semester at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia.

The University of Alabama has inducted 41 students into its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. UA recently inducted 43 College of Arts and Sciences students into its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Founded on December 5, 1776, The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. It has chapters at 286 colleges and universities in the United States, 50 alumni associations, and more than half a million members worldwide. Noteworthy members include 17 U.S. Presidents, 39 Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States and more than 130 Nobel Laureates. The mission of The Phi Beta Kappa Society is to champion education in the liberal arts and sciences, foster freedom of thought, and recognize academic excellence. UA's chapter was founded in 1851. Students are elected to membership on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

This award is presented to students who graduate with both a 3.5 overall grade point average and a 3.67 GPA in all nursing classes.

Coastal Carolina University's held commencement ceremonies for an estimated 1,145 candidates for graduation May 5 and 6, 2017, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. In her remarks to Coastal Carolina University's Class of 2017, commencement speaker Amber J. Campbell encouraged graduates to be true to themselves and their own course in life instead of relying too much on conventional wisdom. "Don't listen to 'they,' because 'they' will tell you all kinds of things," said Campbell, an Olympic athlete and 2004 CCU graduate. " 'They' don't always have your best interests at heart. 'They' will try to talk you out of your dream. 'They' will tell you that what you're pursuing doesn't make sense or that the career you chose is too obscure. Meanwhile, you might end up a three-time Olympian and travel the world!"

More than 300 students were honored at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Honors Day at Georgia State University, held March 30, 2017.

Membership in Sigma Theta Tau is an honor conferred on students in baccalaureate and graduate programs who have demonstrated excellence in their nursing programs.

Recent awards ceremonies on the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee campuses presented more than 300 awards to students across the university's campuses.

More than 150 undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for scholarships, fellowships and awards during the Georgia State University College of Arts and Sciences Honors Night on Thursday, April 13, 2017.

Forty-two students were inducted into the Coastal Carolina University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) at a recent ceremony. ODK is a national honor society that recognizes achievement in scholarship, athletics, campus or community service, mass media and the creative and performing arts. To be eligible for ODK, students must be juniors or seniors enrolled on a full-time basis. They must be in the top 30 percent of their class and have held at least one leadership position.

Kennesaw State University congratulates the nearly 6,000 students who were named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List were enrolled in at least 9 credit hours of courses and earned a grade point average of at least 3.5.

More than 60 cadets at the University of North Georgia (UNG) were recognized for academic, leadership and military achievement at a March 28 awards ceremony.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2016 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by President Samuel S. Olens for earning top marks.
